Volunteer positions are available year-round for young people of all ages and experience levels. We prefer that our volunteers have some prior background with regard to nuclear weapons policy issues and nuclear disarmament activism. This is by no means a requirement, however. Much more important is that interns have a genuine interest in realizing a more peaceful world and a willingness to work hard to achieve it.
The activities of our volunteers vary based both on the evolving needs of the Youth Empowerment Initiative, as well as on the personal interests of individual volunteers. All projects involve hands-on opportunities for the development of practical leadership skills, such as public speaking, meeting facilitation, writing, and event planning. Possible projects include working on our Nuclear Free Universities and UC Nuclear Free campaigns, national Think Outside the Bomb conferences, high school Peace Leadership Clubs project, and summer movie nights.
At any given point, we usually have 3-5 volunteers working in our office. If you are interested in becoming one of these volunteers, please e-mail Youth Empowerment Coordinator Will Parrish to set up an interview at the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation office, or call Will at (805) 965-3443.
